"My experience in Uganda with Ava Missions was deeply impactful, especially witnessing how much of the leadership is made up of young adults. They are boldly leading ministries focused on women, sports (particularly soccer), and outreach to those from inner-city communities, including former gang members. Seeing lives transformed through simple yet powerful practices like listening prayer and Discovery Bible Studies—small groups meeting across Uganda—was incredibly inspiring.
One of the most memorable highlights of the trip was visiting a secondary school, where high school students shared personal testimonies about how Discovery Bible Study has impacted their lives. They spoke with confidence and joy about how engaging directly with the Word of God has strengthened their faith, shaped their character, and influenced their everyday decisions.. It was evident that this wasn’t just head knowledge—it was real, lived transformation.
We also heard powerful testimonies from women and former gang members. Their stories were raw, honest, and full of evidence of how God has shown up in their lives in profound ways. What struck me most was how clearly they understand their identity and the authority they carry in that identity.
On a personal level, I had the opportunity to serve in my identity as a spiritual mother to many of these young leaders. That experience was deeply meaningful and life-giving for me. Their joy, passion, and deep love for the Lord were contagious, and I left feeling both blessed and encouraged by all that God is doing through them.
The vision trip concluded as a shared journey marked by gratitude and renewed commitment—expressed through prayer, testimony, scripture, and simply loving and caring for one another. We were reminded that God’s work is best advanced through partnership, humility, and obedience. It truly felt like a living example of 1 Corinthians 3:9: “For we are co-laborers in God’s service,” which powerfully reinforced the vision behind everything we experienced.
It was difficult for me to leave. I still feel deeply connected to these young adults—their faith, their joy, and their passion continue to stay with me." - RH
